The Story: This original acrylic painting is a continuation of my exploration of Iceland’s Blue Lagoon, inspired by the stark beauty I encountered in November 2024. While my other works capture the vastness of the horizon, this piece focuses on the fascinating detail of the lava rocks as they rise from the geothermal waters.

I was particularly drawn to the white silica that coats the dark volcanic stone at the waterline, creating a ghostly, luminous fringe that separates the deep, craggy earth from the pale blue lagoon. The painting is heavily textured to reflect the rugged, porous nature of the lava, contrasting with the soft, ethereal blending of the sky and water. It captures a moment of total serenity—the quiet hiss of steam and the stillness of a landscape that feels like it belongs to another planet.
